City jeomorphology of Elazığ

ABSTRACT Elazığ is located between 38º 43' - 38 º 36' latitudes and 38º 43' - 38 º 36' longitudes within the boundaries of Eastern Anatolian Region. During the foundation and development process of the Elazığ City that its first settlement history dated and represented by the Site of Harput, It has been influential by the administrative and economical desicions as well as its geomorpholocial and hidrological based significative characteristics as well. At the same time when the geomorphological characteriscis were determining the border of the city, it has also caused emergence of the city's skyline. It is also important to mention that in the days when the infrastructure of access to the drinking water was not exist, the geographical dependancy to the water resources was a case. Elazığ city was also got the chance to develop, expanding on the area as it got the conveyance and power lines. In this case, the Urban pressure has increased on the area against the geomorphological units and it has led to some morphological changes too. Developments in both economic and technological progress, particularly in the field of excavations and civil engineering, led the morphological changes to occur in the area faster and evidently. Changes on geomorphological units have been occured in the west of Elazığ more evidently. Based on high prices of fields wish to gain more spaces from the areas, in the places where the topography wasn't suitable for settlements Urban morphology on the other hand, while the natural morphology led to the change from one side of the city and created his own nature. Scientists devised by the environment, the built environment, urban environment that name sometimes given second nature to adapt to nature sometimes also convert its nature. Climate together with the conversion of the natural environment of the urban environment, hydrology, vegetation is unchanged and has also resulted in deterioration of soil cover in places.
