Abstract (EN)

Urbanization and increasing road traffic cause exposure to both noise and air pollution. In recent years, environmental noise is a global problem that has been a major concern. It is recognized as one of the most harmful environmental risk factors for human health and well-being, especially in urban areas. Environmental effects of motor vehicles in the form of air and noise pollution have received more attention in recent years due to its association with some health problems such as asthma, bronchitis, cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction and hypertension. In some cases, noise pollution may be more important than other environmental problems. Noise mapping can be effective in visualizing and monitoring noise pollution levels. In this study, the transportation noise in Elâzığ is emphasized. Noise measurements were made at certain junction points, at the airport and on the railway in March, April, May and June, and a noise map of Elazığ Province was created using the results obtained. Looking at the results, generally higher noise levels were observed for May and June. The noise level values obtained were above the limit value of 65 dB(A), which is the generally acceptable noise level. For this reason, although the noise originating from transportation is close to the limit values for the province of Elazig, necessary precautions should be taken regarding the noise pollution and its effects on health in the future, and the noise level should be tried to be reduced below the limit values.
