The evaluation of analgesia effectiveness of methods applied for postoperative analgesia in elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgery

AİM: In our study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between numeric rating scale (NRS) and analgesia nociception index (ANI) in patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. METHOD: In our study, patients ASA I-II and between 18-65 years of age, who had been informed about the study preoperatively were included in the study. After ANI and NRS evaluations at 15th and 30th minutes in the recovery unit, 59 patients were grouped according to the methods used in the intraoperative period for postoperative analgesia, Group 1 (n = 31, paracetamol + tramadol) and Group 2 (n = 28, bilateral TAP block). In patients with NRS ≥4 at 15th minute, 1 µcg/kg fentanyl IV rescue analgesia was performed. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23 program. RESULTS: The mean age of the 59 patients in our study was 46.49 ± 11.77. 42 (71.2%) were female and 17 (28.8%) were male. There were 31 patients in Group 1 and 28 patients in Group 2. Fourteen patients (45.2%) of 31 patients in Group 1 and 18 (64.3%) of 28 patients in Group 2 underwent rescue analgesia at 15th minute. The ANI and NRS values were 65,24 ± 15,72 and 3,64 ± 1,82 in the 15th minute, 66,76 ± 14,98 and 2,61 ± 1,41 in the 30th minute, respectively. There was no statistically significant differance between groups. No correlation was found between NRS and ANI values. CONCLUSİON: Considering the results of our study in which the relationship between ANI and NRS values after laparoscopic cholecystectomy could not be demonstrated, we think that more studies regarding usage of ANI monitoring in the early postoperative period are needed.
