Abstract (EN)
This research is a descriptive study conducted within the framework of a general survey model, aiming to examine the instrumental techniques used in electric guitar, the melodic structures employed during improvisations, and the musical equipment utilized, through the works of five different electric guitar performers. The first population of the study consists of electric guitar performers, and the first sample includes the following musicians: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Paul Gilbert, Jimi Hendrix, Guthrie Govan, and Steve Vai. The second population comprises the musical works of electric guitar performers, while the second sample includes the compositions Pride and Joy, Technical Difficulties, Voodoo Child, Wonderful Slippery Thing, and For The Love of God. In forming the theoretical framework of the study and collecting data regarding the musical elements used in the selected works, the document analysis method—one of the qualitative research techniques—was utilized. For data analysis, the visual analysis method was employed; within this scope, the musical elements used in Pride and Joy, Technical Difficulties, Voodoo Child, Wonderful Slippery Thing, and For The Love of God were analyzed. As a result, the melodic structures of improvisational sections, the amplifiers and effect pedals used during performance, and the instrumental techniques employed in these works were identified and interpreted.
