Examination of the parameters affecting the functional time of electrical primers

The most important elements in the defense of an country are weapons and ammunition. It is one of the most important criteria which strengthens the defense system of the country that all the equipments used in the national defense can be produced with the local possibilities without being dependent on the outside. Ammunitions used in tank systems which are an important part of the land battles can be produced by domestic facilities by the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Company which is the leading organization in the national defense industry of our country. Altai Tank Project and 120 mm tank ammunition needs are also supplied by MKEK. In this study, the design of electrical primers that the first firing part of the tank ammunition system, and the parameters affecting the design have been studied and the performances of the primers produced in different configurations have examined and compared. Primers required for the study have been produced by the MKE Ammunition Factory and the Pyrotechnics Factory and the tests have been carried out together with the related units of the Ammunition Factory. Comprehensive informations about "explosion" and "explosive materials" have firstly been cleared up in literature research part in order to make the concept of ammunition in the study well understandable and then tried to explain the concept of "ammunition". It is hoped that this study will be a resource for future work or foreseen work on similar issues related to the defense industry.
