Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to form high performance polyaniline coatings on mild steel surfaces which can maintain their conjugation property against the corrosive effects of the environment. In this study, various electrochemical polarization applications have been performed in order to obtain polyaniline coatings with different properties on mild steel surface, in aqueous media. The experiments performed in three- electrode system by cyclic voltammetry technique, 0.3 M oxalic acid solution containing 0.1 M aniline, and -0.6V- 1.5V (SCE) interval are choosen as coating medium and coating polarization area; respectively. The most stable coatings have been obtained on steel surfaces which are let to stand in aerated oxalic acid solution for five minutes, before electropolymerization. The processes performed by taking into account the multi oxidation property of iron, and the polarization extent have been determinative factors in terms of the quality of the coatings. The steel materials of which the receptor property is controlled, and made gain conjugation property; have been let to stand in 0.1 M NaCl solution, in both aerated and nitrogen atmosphere. During this period, over polarization tests have been carried out following non-destructive electrochemical tests. Some coatings have been found to exert excellent protection. It has been shown by SEM micrographs that some coatings consist of nanotubes which grow up vertically.Science Code : 201.1.117Key Words : Conductive Polymer, Polyaniline, Corrosion, SteelPage Number : 97Adviser: Prof. Dr. Muzaffer TALU, Assoc.
