Abstract (EN)

viELECTRONIC WARFARE AND SIGNAL JAMMING(Ms.Sc.Thesis)Murat ÖZÇELİKGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTRadars and electronic warfare systems have drastically changed sinceWorld War II in parallel with the development of electronics area andhave reached high performance levels with the application of advancedelectronic techniques. Modern defense systems largely consist ofelectronic equipments and military missions such as reconnaissance, communications and weapon control take place in an electromagneticmedium. As a result of this, the effective usage of the electromagneticspectrum during attack and defense operations has gainedconsiderable importance. In the first section of this thesis, the concepts such as SignalIntelligence (SIGINT), Electronics Support Measures (ESM), ElectronicCounter Measures (ECM), Electronic Counter Counter Measures(ECCM) are introduced and a general knowledge is given aboutelectronic warfare systems. In the second section, Electronic CounterMeasure systems which depend on noise jamming and deceptiontecniques are investigated. In the last section, a database whichcontains reflected signals at different angles from several targetshaving different refraction indexes is constructed. For the investigationviiof the effect of noise jamming several applications are realized by usingMATLAB program .Science Code : 905.1.034Key Words : Electronic Warfare, Noise JammingPage Number : 74Adviser : Asst.Prof.Dr. Erkan AFACAN
