Özet (EN)

To prevent harmful effects to the environment and human health, wastewater should be treated in accordance with the receiving environment criteria before discharge. The conventional treatment methods used today are insufficient for the removal of specific pollutants. Harmful chemicals are observed especially in wastewater disposed by the textile industry. These harmful pollutants such as NPE have endocrine disrupting, toxic and carcinogenic properties. Due to the high persistence of these compounds, successful results cannot be obtained by means of chemical or biological treatment. The use of NPE is restricted by some legal limitations today. Significant restrictions have been enacted on their concentration in wastewater. NPEs can be treated with many advanced treatment methods. In this study, the refinability of NP10E compound in synthetic wastewater by using electrooxidayon method was investigated and the results were optimized using RSM. The effects of different electrolytes such as NaCl and Na2SO4 on the efficiency of COD, TOC and NP10E reduction are compared in the study. Current, pH and electrolysis time were selected as independent variables. The effects of these variables on COD, TOC and NP10E removal are explained by the statistical model created with Design Expert software. For NaCl and Na2SO4 under optimum conditions (NaCl: pH: 8, current: 4 A, electrolysis time: 45 min, Na2SO4: pH: 5, current: 2 A, electrolysis time: 180 min), 92.5-76.0 % COD, 94.2 – 72.8 % TOC and 85.3-76.3 % NP10E removal efficiency was achieved respectively. Under optimum conditions, the actual waste water yield of 93.0 % COD, 95.0 % TOC, and 90.8 % NP10E was obtained for NaCl, while the yield of 88.4 % COD, 83.8 % TOC, and 88.2 % NP10E was obtained for Na2SO4. Electricity costs were determined as 0.95 $/m3 and $ 1.30 $/m3 respectively for NaCl and Na2SO4. In the EO process, it was found that NaCl was more effective than Na2SO4 electrolyte.
