Bilgin Adali's books for children on the concept of giving critical thinking skills

It is known that reading is very important to improve the process of thinking and using it effectively. Especially children take the characters who they were impressed as a model. Thus, books are important to give them a point of view, too. Critical thinking is seen as an important skill to make children find their own way . In our schedules critical thinking is one of the attitutes which we aim to give. In this reasearch, it was tried to determine the effects of books for children to gain them the skill of critical thinking. To do this, the books of a contemporary writer BLGN ADALI who aims to gain children critical thinking with the themes he writes were chosen. In the research, firstly the concepts of ?thinking?, ?critical thinking? were explained and then ?the skills of critical thinking? were emphasized. Afterwards, it was stated the features of a person who has a critical thinking. The connections between children and books for children were searched related to gaining of the behaivour of critical thinking. It was emphasized the importance of books in gaining critical thinking. In addition, it was given informations about the life and the books of BLGN ADALI and the results which were taken from the books we researched were exposed These books were summarized firstly. Then their themes were analized according to critical thinking. Afterwards, the behaivours of the characters in the books and the writerâ??s parts were analized and interpreted according to the skill of critical thinking. Finally, our theses ended evaluating and testing the results according to the hypothesis.
