Investigation of Hamdullah Köseoğlu's children's novels in the context of achieving critical thinking skills

Thinking; It is an action that is carried out for a specific purpose, which leads the individual to make a judgment and reach a conclusion. critical thinking; It is a high-level thinking skill in which skills such as analysis, evaluation, problem solving and decision making are used. Critical thinking is the ability to look at events and situations from a questioning point of view. Critical thinking is among the 21st century skills. Therefore, raising individuals who can think critically is among the indispensable requirements of today's society. Critical thinking is a ability that can be learned and improved over life expectancy. There are elements that promote critical thinking and improve mentally. However, reading a book has a very important place among these factors. literary works that have a comprehensive content in the context of critical thinking ability, allow individuals to think critically, look at events and situations from different angles, and expand their horizons. In this context, qualified children's books are very valuable in terms of acquiring and developing critical thinking skills. For this reason, in order for individuals to gain critical thinking skills, care should be taken to select carefully prepared works and to choose competent children's literature writers and works that help develop children's language and thinking skills, consider the world of children and their sensitivity. In this research, in which a descriptive approach was adopted in the scanning model, the document analysis method was used. As the study material, Hamdullah Köseoğlu's novels "Kardelen", "Bir Yıldız Geçiyor", "Yayla Çiçeği", "Gülşen'in Öyküsü" and "Uçurum Kent" were chosen. In the study, five novels written by Hamdullah Köseoğlu for children were examined in the context of helping children gain critical thinking skills. It has been concluded that the books in question are suitable in terms of presenting critical thinking elements and encourage readers to think critically.
