The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of maximal aerobic test on total oxidant (TOS) and total antioxidant (TAS) in elite male swimmers and sedentary. 12 elite male swimmers and 12 sedentary participated in this study voluntarily. After measuring height and body weight of participating subjects in the study, 20 m shuttle run test was performed to determine the aerobic power of subjects. While Wilcoxon test was used to compare mean values of post-exercise and pre-exercise, Mann-Whitney test was used to compare mean of groups. As a result of the statistical analysis significant differences were found between the pre total antioxidant and total oxidant and also post total antioxidant and total oxidant in both groups (p<0.05). Additionally, statistically significant difference was found between the post-exercise total antioxidant average values of swimmers and sedentary (p<0.05). In conclusion, a significant increase was determined in total oxidant and total antioxidant levels among swimmers after maximal aerobic exercise compared to pre-exercise.
