Investigation of relationship between elite male swimmers swimming performances and apelin

Abstract (EN)

This study carried out with the participation of male swimmers at elite level was conducted to analyze the effects of loadings (short, middle, long distance) exercises on apelin, and some physical and biochemical parameters. Our study group included 20 healthy male swimmers who practice active swimming trainings at an elite level, vary at ages between 18 and 22, live in Adiyaman, and have similar food habits. In this study, pre-test and post-test model was performed. After the performed loadings, blood samples were taken out of the experimental subjects for 4 times, determination of complete blood values, apelin and some biochemical parameters was conducted. Then, physical measurement values were determined. The data were evaluated using SPSS package program, and the level of significance was takes as p<0.05. It was determined that thrombocyte, erythrocyte, leucocyte, and indexes among the hematological parameters increased through the performed application (p<0.05); and moreover, it was also noticed an increase at blood glucose level and a decrease at insulin level (p<0.05). According to the pre-test results Apelin hormone secreted from hypothalamus in brain, and many organs such as stomach, fat tissue, and hearth (=2090.75), the differences between the mid-distance Apelin (=4260.43) and long distance Apelin (=3694.4) values were found as significant (p<0.05). In our study, significant differences were found between some apelin levels, body mass index, aerobic and anaerobic strength under different loadings. Consequently; it was determined according to the conducted study that different loaded acute swimming exercise affected the blood parameters and apelin levels significantly, and the relationships were apparent between the aerobic and anaerobic capacity and bod mass index; and the consideration related to the apelin and exercise interaction increased. Furthermore, it will be beneficial to carry out further studies in different sports branches and different disciplines in order to have a more specific exercise-apelin relationship.
