Comparison of somatotype characteristics and anthropometric proportional relations of elite wrestlers between styles and weights

In this master thesis named ?Comparison of Somatotype Characteristics and Anthropometric Proportional Relations of Elite Wrestlers Between Styles and Weights? comparison of somatotype characteristics and anthropometric proportional relations of elite wrestlers at the level of styles and weights and contribution to improvement and orientation of sportsmen that wrestling in a professional manner is aimed. 57 elite wrestlers whom took place in the European Championship Preparatory Camp of Turkish National Adults Wrestling Team, organized between the dates of 5th and 24th April 2006, joined to this study. Wrestlers are consist of 31 greco-roman style with 7 lightweight, 14 medium-weight and 10 heavy-weight (average height: 168.9 cm. and average weight: 81.1 kg.) and 26 free style with 8 lightweight, 12 medium-weight and 6 heavyweight (average height: 173.0 cm. and average weight: 87.9 kg.). Also, average age of the wrestlers is 23.35 years. As a result of performed anthropometric measurements, meaningful differences between free style and greco-roman elite wrestlers regarding anthropometric data and ratio of these data both in style and weigh couldn?t determine. Wrestlers, as evaluated in somatotype, free and Greco-roman styles are characterized as endomorphic mesomorphy, lightweight wrestlers are measured as balanced mesomorphy, medium-weight wrestlers are found endomorphic mesomorphy and heavy-weight wrestlers are characterized as endomorphic mesomorphy and while there aren?t differences between styles, meaningful difference found between weights. The results of this study shows that body compositions of wrestlers performing this sport in elite level don?t carry differences between styles. In spite of there is no differentiate effect of styles for wrestlers, partake in the similar training, nutrition and competition programs from childhood, weight, leaning on differentiates of somatotypes in the frame of the components like height, weight, length of bust and arm etc., emanates differences.
