Abstract (EN)

Our research has been applied in order to investigate the effects of different kinds of elite sport branches on physical self-perception. This aim has been reached according to the ?Physical Self-Perception Profile? which is developed by Fox and Corbin in 1989. The validity and reliability of this profile has been clarified by Aşçı, Aşçı and Zorba in 1999 on Turkish university students. 9 volleyball players, 8 table tennis players, 10 badminton players, 28 oarsmen and 10 karate-men, totally 64 elite sportsmen joined to our research from different cities of our country. In the stage of the analysis of the data to calculate the average and percentages of the answers SPSS computer program has been used. As a result it is determined that the physical self-perception level of the table tennis players are higher than the sportsmen of the other branches. The physical self-perception level of the other sportsmen is decrease as follows, volleyball players, oarsmen, badminton players and karate-men. This study gives information to us as a teacher, parent and trainer, about the sports branches that is required to tend by children in order to gain positive self-perception.
