Abstract (EN)
Umayyad State Period (661/750), it is an very critical period in which practices differentiating from the period of the Prophet and the Four Caliphs, the effects of which continue today and many divisions and sects that have shaped the history of Islam. During the Umayyad State, we see that both the power and the opposition needed religious discourses in order to keep their supporters together, to motivate them and to turn them into power when necessary. The parties, with these discourses, while making certain opinions spoken; some make it impossible. In the first part of the thesis, we examined religious discourse and its aims sociologically. In the second chapter, we summarized the political events before and during the Umayyad State as a background for discourse analysis. In the third chapter, we analyzed as the religious discourses of Umayyad State Period four main headings: Imamate-Caliphate Discourse, Faith- Disbelief Discourse, Fate-Will Discourse, Sedition -Oppression Discourse in the power-opposition front. As a result; we came to the conclusion that the religious discourses of the ruling and opposition used them extensively for their own purposes to support their own views during this period. These religious discourses have taken the form of sometimes the interpretation of verses and hadith narratives, sometimes in the form of rhetoric and religious-looking discourses. Subjects that were not on the agenda before and after this period have been on the agenda under certain conditions. In our thesis, we examined these conditions of formation by analyzing religious discourse of the power and opposition fronts in Umayyad Period.
