Özet (EN)

Basement Rocks of Emirdağ and surrounding area are represented by Afyon metamorphics which are unconformably overlain by a Lacustrine terrestrial and volcanic rocks alternation of Miocene age Gebeceler Formation. Limestones exposed in large areas around Karacalar, Tabaklar, Hisarköy and Başkonak village, which represent the lacustrine environment facies and it is mining as travertine rock due to its banded, porous and durability. Başkonak and its surrounding of Gebeceler Formation limestones contain fossils and vertebrata bone fossils, algae, reeds and gastropoda fossils reflecting the lake and terrestrial environment. Large and small vertebrata bone fossils belonging to Karnivora order were found Karacalar village and around. Also cf. Typha sp., cf. Salix sp. and cf. Myrica sp. of Myricacea family of plant fossils were determined. Charophyte (green algae) fossils were determined in Hisarköy and its vicinity, Camphylaea sp. (Gastropoda) genus was collected in Tabaklar village and nearby area. New Paleontologic and Sedimentologic findings support that Limestones of Gebeceler Formation is deposited in a shallow Lake system.
