The sources of organizational stress in the police organization, Mardin Police Headquarters sample

The aim of the current study is to measure the stress of the staff in the police organization in general, and the policemen in particular, that is caused by working conditions and to reveal the relationship between their stress level and demographical characteristics.In the first part, stress and related concepts; symptoms, types, causes and sources of stress, and stress management have been emphasized while the second part have included the concept of the police, the historical development of the job of policemanship, changes in the police organization during the process of entry to European Union and subjects related to the stress of the policemen. In the third and fourth parts, on the other hand, the survey which has been applied to the staff in Mardin Police Headquarters has been analyzed.Survey has been applied to 216 of 1065 staff working in Mardin Police Headquarters to measure the stress stemming from the working conditions of the policemen and to reveal the relationship between policemen?s demographical characteristics and their stress level. All of the applied questionnaires have been evaluated.Working conditions of the policemen display differences compared to most of the other public officers. That?s why a great majority of the stress factors affecting policemen encompass differences peculiar to the job of policemanship. Of course, remaining staff, which doesn?t have the ?policeman? title, are influenced by common stress factors as a result of working in the same context in the police organization. For that reason, this remaining staff has been included in the current study as well.In the study,First, responses to the survey have been examined by conducting descriptive analyses to determine the sources of organizational stress of the policemen,Second, the relationship between the demographical characteristics and the sources of organizational stress has been examined,And finally, the relationship between the sources of organizational stress has been explored.
