Özet (EN)

Hybrid systems, which bring together many components with different properties, enable us to benefit from the unique performance of each component, allowing us to capture superior advantages, meet the demands of consumers, and prevent many environmental problems. In this context, hybrid (alkyd/styrene acrylic) latexes were synthesized using renewable resources such as pine fatty acid (TOFA), hemp seed oil, and molasses, and hybrid (clay-magnetic acrylic) latexes were synthesized using inorganic materials such as hybrid (molasses acrylic) and iron oxide. Within the scope of the study, hybrid latexes were synthesized on a waterborne basis by mini-emulsion polymerization and aimed to be used in more environmentally friendly applications, which we think may be beneficial for many applications. The structures of the synthesized waterborne hybrid latexes were elucidated with FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and XRD analyses. Particle structure and distribution of waterborne hybrid latexes were determined by DLS, AFM, FESEM/STEM, and FESEM/EDAX analyses. Thermal properties were determined by MFFT, TGA, and DSC. The hydrophobic properties of the latex were determined by the water contact angle, and their strength was determined by the tensile test. When the results are examined, thermal, mechanical, etc. effects were found in waterborne hybrid (alkyd/styrene acrylic) latex containing TOFA and hemp seed oil-added alkyd resin, hybrid (clay-magnetic acrylic) latex containing clay-modified magnetic nanoparticles, and hybrid (molasses acrylic) latex containing molasses. It has been observed that many properties show improvement over pure acrylic latexes. In general, we predict that the synthesized waterborne hybrid alkyd, magnetic, and molasses-based acrylic dispersions will contribute to the environment and sustainability.
