Abstract (EN)

Aim: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between biological rhythm and breastfeeding success in breastfeeding women. Materials and methods: The research was carried out as a descriptive and cross-sectional research. The research was completed with 204 breastfeeding women who applied to Diyarbakır Children's Diseases Hospital between September 2023 and April 2024. "Personal Information Form", "Biological Rhythm Assessment Interview Scale (BRDGÖ)" and "Breastfeeding Diagnosis and Evaluation Scale (LATCH)" were used as data collection tools in the research. In evaluating the data; Descriptive statistics, mean and standard deviation for continuous variables, number and percentage distribution for categorical variables, and Pearson correlation analysis were used. Results: A significant negative relationship was found between breastfeeding success and biological rhythms of breastfeeding women (p<0.001). A significant negative relationship was found between the sleep, activity, social and eating habits sub-dimensions of the Biological Rhythm Assessment Interview Scale and breastfeeding success (p<0.001). Conclusion: The study found that as the deterioration in the biological rhythms of breastfeeding women increases, their breastfeeding success decreases. Therefore, it is very important to evaluate the biological rhythm of women during breastfeeding. It is recommended that more extensive research be conducted on biological rhythms during breastfeeding. Keywords: Biological Rhythm, Breastfeeding, Breastfeeding Success, Woman
