Abstract (EN)
In the scope of this thesis, comprehensive phytochemical and biological activity studies have been carried out on endemic Campanula kirikkaleensis Dönmez & Güner. For this purpose, n-hexane, chloroform, and methanol extracts of the plant were obtained, chemical analyses were performed on these extracts, and their biological activities were tested. The chemical components of Campanula kirikkaleensis were examined using gas chromatography (GC-FID/MS) and liquid chromatography (LC-HRMS) methods, and volatile oils as well as fatty acids were identified. Additionally, antioxidant effects were analyzed using methods such as DPPH, CUPRAC, and TEAC tests to evaluate free radical scavenging properties. The antidiabetic activity of the plant was assessed through α-amylase enzyme inhibitory effects. In the MSD-SPME analysis, the major compound in the herb and root was identified as 3-Ethyl-3,4-dihydro-2(1H)-quinoxalinone. The major fatty acid found in both the herb and root was methyl linoleate. LC-HRMS results revealed that the major compounds were rutin and chlorogenic acid. Mineral analysis detected the elements Fe, Mg, Ca, and K. The findings revealed that Campanula kirikkaleensis possesses a rich chemical composition and exhibits significant potential pharmacological activities. These results suggest that the plant should be considered in drug development processes. This thesis represents the first scientific research conducted on Campanula kirikkaleensis, and also shows the phytochemical and biological potentials of endemic plant species.
