Abstract (EN)

In the era of globalization, The development of globalization and communication technologies has accelerated cultural exchange. This change is especially evident in the entertainment industry through television series. Turkey, after the United States and the United Kingdom, is the world's third-largest exporter of TV series, with its shows reaching many countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to examine the extent to which Turkish television series have influenced and potentially transformed the perceptions of Indonesian audiences regarding Turkey. This research employs George Gerbner's Cultivation Theory as a theoretical framework. This theory posits that long-term exposure to television content can shape viewers' perceptions of reality. The study was conducted using a quantitative method with data collection through surveys. The findings indicate that Turkish TV series significantly influence Indonesian viewers' perceptions of Turkey, increasing their interest in Turkish culture, history, and language. Most participants developed a positive perspective towards Turkey after watching Turkish TV series. The trend of Turkish TV series in Indonesia has led to "kebab" becoming the most widespread Turkish food throughout Indonesia. This kebab has even transformed into different forms such as "black kebab" and "fruit kebab" due to the fusion with Indonesian eating habits. This study reveals that Turkish TV series serve as an effective tool of soft power, positively shaping the image of Turkey among Indonesian viewers. This translation maintains the academic tone and structure suitable for a thesis.
