The changing role of the procurement department in thetransition from industry 4.0 to industry 5.0: A theoreticalreview

The aim of this thesis is to understand and analyze the influences of shifting business dynamics on purchasing department's role in the process of transition to Industry 4.0 and Industry 5.0. Through a literature review, the concepts of Industry 4.0, Industry 5.0 and the purchasing function will be studied, and the transformation of the industry and its effects, as well as how the purchasing department will adapt to the digital transformation and acquire new responsibilities and capabilities will be investigated in a theoretical framework within this thesis. The subjects discussed within the scope of the study will be supported by the research samples conducted to understand the level of digitalization and the level of use of digital transformation technologies that are used in purchasing processes. At the end, the study will provide some strategic recommendations for the purchasing department to adapt to the new demands in the process of technologically and human-oriented transformation.
