Abstract (EN)
In this study, on the basis of the works of Richard Sennett, the concepts that have a key role in shaping our life such as Industry, City, Public Sphere, their historical transformations and the social reflections of those transformations are examined. Richard Sennett suggests that the roots of many social drawbacks which have occured in our today‟s society can be found in historicalness and if the historical breaking points can be realized well, the social problems might disappear. Within this respect, while the study took place, I have examined the problematisation of social phenomenon in our today‟s society with the historical perspective in order to reveal the historical bonds of the problems. Throughout the study, I have used the literature survey tool and have included several works and texts which Richard Sennett contributed and committed to paper so as to base the claims that have been presented. I aimed that this work will set light to the historical roots of the social problems of the modern urbanite individual andthe most recent reflections.
