Industry occupational high school principals' levels of having transformational laedership characteristics (Ankara province sample)

ABSTRACTINDUSTRY OCCUPATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPALS? LEVELS OFHAVING TRANSFORMATIONAL LAEDERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS(ANKARA PROVINCE SAMPLE)In the study industry occupational high school principals? levels of havingtransformational laedership characteristics was aimed to be determined by takingteacher and school principals? thoughts evaluating different variables.The universe is 24 school principals and 2149 teachers and the sample groupis 504 teachers who work in industry occupational high schools in the centralprovinces of Ankara in 2005-2006 education year. There is no sample grup as all theschool principals are reached. The study model is survey research. In order to gatherinformation, a questionnaire which has four dimensions was practised for the samplegroup. Whether there is a meaningful difference or not is controlled with T test, Oneway variance analysis, Scheffe test and Mann Whitney U-test. In the study themeaningful level is accepted as 0.05.As a result of the research:1. School principals evaluate themselves about their transformational leadershipcharacteristics as in the level of ?I mostly agree?.2. According to teacher perceptions, industry occupational high schoolsprincipals show transformational leadership characteristics in the middle level of ?Iquite agree?.3. There is a meaningful difference between school principals? evaluation ofthemselves and teacher perceptions.4. Teachers find industry occupational high schools principals? levels of showingbehaviours in the dimension of charismatic effect from transformational laedershipcharacteristics most succesful; however, Teachers find principals? levels of showingbehaviours in the dimension of intellectual stimulation most unsuccesful.5. Teacher perceptions about school principals? transformational laedershipcharacteristics? four dimension didn?t show any difference according to the variablesof teachers? gender, age, occupational length of service, levels of branch andeducation. But in all the dimensions, teacher perceptions showed meaningfuldifference according to working hours with the same school principal.vi
