Plaster modeling and mold methods in industrial ceramic production

With the industrial revolution, production methods in almost every field were industrialized. In this way, it was possible to meet the product volume required by the market by saving not only time but also labor. In addition to the negative benefits such as the birth of the working class and working long hours at low costs, the replacement of unique works with serial and identical products, the fact that it responds to the supply with a large production capacity has made industrialization important. The ceramic industry is one of the mentioned areas. With the industrial revolution, industrialization in the field of ceramics showed its presence in our country in the 1950s and has continuously developed until today. The founder and honorary president of Kale Group, the late İbrahim Bodur, pioneered the establishment and development of the sector in our country and founded Kaleseramik in 1956. In 1957, the foundations of Çanakkale Ceramic Factories were laid as the first ceramic tile manufacturer in Turkey (URL-1, 2024). Plaster is one of the most important auxiliary materials of the ceramic industry. Plaster used in the production process; It is the most frequently used product in both model making and mold making. The aim of this thesis is; While examining the historical development process of plaster modeling and mold methods in industrial ceramic production, it also investigates all the technical details regarding the material itself and its use, and observes the results by performing modeling and mold applications in line with the data obtained. Mold applications, which are examples of plaster model and mold methods, are limited to the manual shaping technique. After the modeling and molding of the forms determined within the scope of the relevant study, their casting capabilities were examined. It is thought that the mentioned study will be a resource in eliminating the problems that may be encountered in the model and mold production processes, especially in small-scale workshops/enterprises, by emphasizing the importance of plaster material in the ceramic industry with detailed literature research and sample applications.
