Abstract (EN)

In this study; the importance and the place of the ?Universal Design? concept are studied. The Universal design concept and the important steps of the formation of this concept are being exposed; the concept is explained by examples that are shaped with universal design principles.Some methodologies and factors for universal design education are defined to increase the awareness and sensibility about the designing skills of designers of the future. In this study, the 2009-2010 years curriculums of the 20 Industrial Design Departments in Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus are reached. The place and perception of universal design in industrial design education in Turkey and TRNC is intended to be designated by analyzing the contents of the course which are given in these curriculums, comparing the institutional and experimental researches in the term of industrial design. Consequently a guide study is prepared for the design departments in Turkey and TRNC.
