Özet (EN)

We share our daily lives with pathogenic or nonpathohenic countless bacteria. Elemination of the pathogenic bacteria before they cause diseases is important to protect individual and community healt and also to look out for economical benefits. Antibacterial textiles are a substantial part of this fight against pathogenic bacteria. Esspecially in some specific areas such as hospitals, public domain, food producing facilities, schools, dorms and gymnasiums usage of antibacterial textiles has became a neccesity rather than an option. In this thesis, it was planned to produce antibacterial polymeric coated textiles. Polyvinyl chloride was used as coating polymer. Calcium oxide, zinc oxide and magnessium oxide powders were doped to coating polymer for antibacterial functionality. Optimum metal oxide concentrations for the maximum antibacterial activity were determined. Listeria innocua bacteria was used in antibacterial tests. Suitable coating construction was investigated for the highest antibacterial yield. The act of mechanism was researched with Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) technique, dichloreflorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA) oxygen radical probe and fluorescein chemical probe. It was determined that metal oxides caused oxygen radical releasing or catalytic reactions. The oxidative stress in the bacteria was determined with fluoresance microscope and microplate reader. The changes in the coating structure related to metal oxide doping were monitored with FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy)
