Today, when the influence of electricity and heat production on the environment is examined, the efficiency of power plants is very important. For this reason, besides electricity generation, waste heat recovery should be used in almost every system. Although they are higher in terms of initial investment costs, waste heat recovery systems soon meet their own investment costs. After the cogeneration systems, trigeneration systems are used for both heat and refrigeration needs. Combined Cooling Heating and Power (CCHP) is an extended form of the cogeneration system. In addition to cogeneration, heat recovery is used in cooling as well as heating. In the present study, a trigeneration system of a city hospital with a capacity of 3660 beds in Ankara, Turkey is modeled as thermodynamically. There are 4 groups of 4300 kWe generators in the trigeneration system. For each generator set, there are one hot water boiler and absorbed chiller exist for the waste heat recovery. In this system, three different waste heat recovery is done on the engine side of the generator. These are JW (jacket water), AC (after cooler) and LUBOIL (oil cooling) circuits. Trigeneration system meets entire electricity demand of the hospital. The heating circuits provides 18.7 percent of the heat requirement and the cooling circuit on the other hand, provides 17.2 percent of the cooling demand. Combustion inside the engine (combustion chamber) is modelled by an in-house code that is developed in this thesis. Combustion is modelled to automatically estimate the ideal gas phase thermodynamic properties. This code is written in GO (GOLang) for use on machines running under MSDOS.
