Abstract (EN)
In this study, the historical development of the use of energy and types of energy sources, rates of energy use and distribution of it both in the world and in Turkey were discussed. In this study, environmental impacts of energy use and studies reducing the effects of it, together with the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in Turkey by including carbon release rates were analyzed. For the period 1980-2011 with the annual time series as a result of Granger causality analysis, in Turkey, bidirectional causality has been observed between energy consumption and carbon emissions.
