Özet (EN)
The aim of this study is to design and apply new projects in a facility which has high rates of energy consumption in order to reduce energy consumption without reducing the quality and performance. Pilot plant selected for this study is Ankara Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center. Since the facility is in operation, major works about energy efficiency in the electrical and mechanical installation were carried out in construction phase.Facility and systems are examined and energy efficiency projects are designed in accordance with the hotel's architecture and the technical specifications. These projects are: To produce electricity with a trigeneration system and to use the system's waste heat for heating in winter and cooling in summer, to set up a solar collector system, for getting domestic hot water from solar energy, to heat boiler return water by using an economizer installed to existing heating boilers, to air condition the car parks by using the hotel lobby?s return air, to air condition the kitchen by using the restaurants and meeting rooms return air, to insulate the heating-cooling system valves by using valve jackets, to insulate the external surfaces of the heating boilers, to reduce the energy consumption used for lighting by using energy efficient bulbs. When the cost analysis of the designed system is calculated, we see that equipment-based devices have upper initial investment costs, but the payback periods are at an acceptable level. In some projects the payback period is at a very small value. This is because these designs are more simple and cheaper applications, not high-cost devices but the result is an important energy saving. In both options, energy-efficient systems have been created and energy consumption reduction has been obtained, compared to the old designs.
