Fundamental changes and innovations diffuse to all application areasin construction industry. Technological development has a major role for solving potentialproblems of construction industry. With the new form of market effects it is necessary thatprocess focused thinking have to take the place of product focused thinking in constructionindustry. The construction context is becoming increasingly dynamic. All constructionorganizations need to think differently about how they conduct their business. By the waydeveoloping information technologies becomes a strategic and operational tool in the sector.These tecnologies also named as information systems and they have considerably effectsespecially in the methods and process of construction.Objective of the thesis is figuring out which problems can be solved by the use of informationtechynologies in construction process. So the benefits of information tecnologies and theadvanced point in the use of information tecnology in Turkish construction industry are needto be understood.In the first chapter, approach to the subject and definition of the problem has been determined,goals and objectives has been stated.In the second chapter, the basic point of view, in other words, project management areasexplained. Afterwords, information technologies analyzed in detail, concerning both thesubjective and the conceptual components.In the third chapter, strategic management, approach and the methods has been explained withinformation technologies.In the fourth chapter, characteristics of the construction sector and the role of informationtechnologies in the management of construction projects has been explained.In the fifth chapter, the place of information technologies in Turkish construction industry andapplication examples of ahaeding firms to the sector which use the information technologysupport has been reseached.In the last chapter, use of information technology in local construction industry analysed bythe duration of technological development.
