Abstract (EN)

Violence is a social problem that intertwined with human history. Especially in the patriarchal world we live in, women are leading groups exposed to violence as a natural consequence of gender inequality. When the studies and statistical data in the field of violence against women are examined, it is seen that there is insufficient information about groups experiencing multiple discrimination. It is thought that disabled women are exposed to all kinds of violence and abuse because especially disabled women experience being a "woman'' and "disabled'' as double pressure. For this reason, the aim of the study is to discover how women with disabilities express their experiences of being exposed to violence and to understand the effect of gender phenomenon on this experience. In this research, which was conducted by using the qualitative method, the gender perspective based on feminist methodology was focused. The subjects of the research were reached through snowball sampling. The research was carried out with the participation of 15 women in the total, including 10 women with orthopedic disabilities , 1 woman with hearing impairment,2 visually impaired women, 1 woman with visual and hearing impairment and 1 woman with vision, hearing and chronic disability. The data is collected from the participants of the research through semi-structured in-depth interviews were analyzed with descriptive analysis. Max Qualitative Data Analysis (MAXQDA 2022) qualitative analysis software was used to analyze the data. As a result of the research, it has been reached that disabled women can be exposed to instant violence in all areas of their lives ; It has been observed that gender inequality is a major factor in this violence experience of women. One of the important findings of the research is that the "state of being unable to reach'' is also experienced as a form of violence. For this reason, it has been concluded that there is a need for egalitarian, needs-conscious, inclusive and holistic social policy and service practices. It is important and necessary to take the feminist theory as a basis, especially in studies conducted with disabled women who are exposed to violence. The research has been concluded with suggestions that can be made in this context. Keywords: Disabled woman, Violence, Gender perspective, Social work
