Abstract (EN)

Due to the increase in migration from the countryside to the cities, the increase in the population in the city, the increase in economic income and the increase in vehicle ownership have been the most important factors affecting the traffic density and transportation problems. However, transportation problems for people with disabilities have become even more important due to the increase in disability in society. Especially for disabled people, very important problems that need to be considered and solved in transportation are increasing day by day. In order to overcome these problems, both the private sector, the public sector and the relevant ministries offer various solutions and products. However, the implementation of these legislation, the dissemination and commercialization of legal responsibilities is an important problem. One of the most important indicators of this is the inability to use equal opportunity in transportation. In addition, there are not enough studies that address the problems of individuals with disabilities in order to eliminate this inequality of opportunity. In order to fill this gap and to prepare the ground for similar studies, this thesis has been carried out as an obstacle-free transportation study in Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality. The reason for choosing Balıkesir is that the university where the thesis is made is within the borders of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, it has different transportation modes, it has an important place in terms of tourism, it is one of the cities that receive immigration, and it has a constant population increase. For this purpose, a survey was conducted to determine the problems faced by disabled people in urban transportation, their expectations, awareness and satisfaction with the services offered to them and to develop solutions.
