Activity of local public services oriented disabled people: The sample of Sakarya

Parallel to the developments that took place in economic and social life, the expectation of individuals from public institutions and organizations has also risen and differentiated. The types or type of public services that were not previously thought to be anticipated or problematic have now begun to be seen as problems or expectations. In this case, a citizen-oriented policy that can meet the demands of the citizens in response to the demands of the citizens in the presentation of public services has started to become important. On the other hand, there is a general consensus that the needs of people with disabilities are not taken into consideration in the service delivery of municipalities in our country. Contrary to this widespread belief, it can be said that in the recent public service provision, some municipalities ignore the problems and expectations of disabled citizens. The extent to which the offered services meet the needs and expectations can be determined as a measure of the level of satisfaction of the disabled citizens through various methods. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the effectiveness of local public services for disabled people and the level of satisfaction of disabled people with local public services by questionnaire method in Sakarya province. In the questionnaire; 511 disabled citizens were included, including 236 orthopedic, 124 mentally, 68 language and speech, 58 sight, 37 hearing, 30 persistence, 23 impairment and 37 other impairments. Participants have different disability rates, but some have more than one disability. The questionnaire has 41 questions. The SPSS (22) program was used for the evaluation and analysis of the findings obtained by the questionnaire survey. On the other hand, the reliability coefficient of the study was found to be 0.938. The value close to 1.00 indicates that it is safe to study.
