Abstract (EN)

In an age where technological advancements increasingly shape the spaces we live in, it is not possible for people with restricted freedom of movement such as the handicapped, elderly and the pregnant, to personalize, to develop a feeling of attachment and to adapt to the place they live in if some simple but important precautions are not taken during the design process. Bearing in mind that freedom of transportation a fundamental human right, this thesis analyses the precautions to be taken for proper enactment of this right with respect to the disabled airport passengers. A design guide has been established to ensure that terminal buildings have accessible and unobstructed designs. The most important standard in establishing have been passenger flow and circulation. It has been expected that the resulting design guide would provide a valuable resource for future airport terminals to be constructed as "barrier free" and "accessible for all".
