Abstract (EN)

This study is investigated geomorphological feature of Engizek Mountain. Field area is located in the Adana part of the Mediterranean Region. The area is found in border Kahramanmaraş province. The study area is lenght in the east-west direction approximately 40 km and in the north-south direction 20 km. The study is essentially based on field observations and studies. In addition, remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) have been utilized in the process of producing maps. Also geomorphologic shapes established in the field are mapped and interpreted. Engizek Mountain in Taurus orogenic belt, is located in the westernmost part of the Taurus Mountains. The area is exposed to uplift the southerly compressive movement of the Arabian Plate, found faults, anticlines and synclines as well as overthrust. The field study where are rich with regard to geological and geomorphological features, the main geomorphological units which are composed of mountainside, plateaus and bottom lands are expressed by differentiation. In addition, carstic shapes (lapies, doline, uvala, polje, cave) is identified in the area. Besides, dolines having different shapes and formations have been tried to be explained base on the new classification method. One of the most distinctive morphology in the research is undoubtedly the glacial shapes. During the Pleistocene period (probably Würm), the area affected by glacial conditions and after the elevation 2300 m glacial forms are encountered. The lithological structure of the site is made up of limestones, causing the traces of micro-glacial erosion patterns to be erased. In the study area, glacier valleys, moraine deposits, cirques were identified and mapped.
