Abstract (EN)

This research made by descriptive and comparative method to the efficiency of epidural anesthesia to breast feeding at first 24 hours. This research?s examples were collected by 40 mother who had Vaginal Birth with Epidural Anesthesia and 40 mother who had birth without Anesthesia at Dr.Zekai Tahir Burak Woman?s Health Education and Research Hospital of Health Ministry. When collecting data, data collection form and LATCH Breast Feeding Point System were used. Also in percentage evaluation of data, Pearson method, Mann-Whitney U and Fisher?s Exact tests were used. By the tests results, 60 percent of mothers couldn?t feed the baby in 30 minutes. There was no obvious and meaningful difference between two groups by the time of beginning to feed the baby (p>0,05).The percentage is high at starting to feed by birth nurse. Also there were no meaningful and statistical differences between baby?s sleeping situation and reflexes of sucking (p>0,05). No differences were diagnosed by APGAR first and fifth scores (p>0,05). Also no meaningful differences were happened in 6th 12th and 24th hours by LATCH points. At 24th hour, baby?s temple moving were higher in without Anesthesia (p<0,05). In epidural group, 12th and 24th hours nipple-ache complaint were higher.(p<0,05) In our research there was no meaningful difference of situation at sufficiency of milk. Mothers? side which complain about milk quantity, in vaginal birth group ?I can?t understand if the milk amount is sufficient or not? , in epidural group ?No milk when I hold my nipples ? expressions are attracting attention. Complainants of milk?s insufficient quantity is important at great amount of mother in epidural group.
