Abstract (EN)
Objective: Homocysteine levels are thought to play an important role in erectile dysfunction (ED) disease. The aim of this study was to measure glucose, folic acid, vitamin B12, cholesterol, estradiol, prolactin, total testosterone and homocysteine levels and to determine the relationship between erectile dysfunction Methods: 80 volunteer men between 25-65 years of age were planned to participate in the study. Patients prospectively; were divided into two groups: patients without ED, Group 1 (Control group) and those with ED, Group 2. The ED classification of the groups were done by using the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) inquiry form. Patients with any comorbidity related to ED or patients who underwent surgical intervention related to postoperative ED development were exclude from the study. Serum glucose, folic acid, vitamin B12, cholesterol, estradiol, prolactin, total testosterone and homocysteine and all other parameters associated with ED were measured in all patients. The data obtained from the study was compared in the statistical program SPSS 23,0 and the difference between the two groups was evaluated. Results: In our study, glucose, folic acid, vitamin B12, cholesterol, estradiol, prolactin, total testosterone and homocysteine levels were compared between group-1 and group-2. Vitamin B12, folic acid, estradiol, prolactin, total testosterone and homocysteine levels of ED patients were increased significantly. Conclusion: We can say that there is a significant relationship between homocysteine and erectile dysfunction. However, this study should be repeated more extensively with a larger group. Keywords: Erectile Dysfunction, Homocysteine, Folic acid, Vitamin B12, Estradiol.
