Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted in order to shed light on the prediction power that percieved social support, self efficacy and gender have in academic resilience. Gender, as a demographic variable was also included in the analysis as a predictive variable. Furthermore, the relation between the gender and academic resilience was analysed in order to see if the academic resilience varied meaningfully based on gender. This study was conducted as a predictive correlational research. The study population was consisted of 10th and 11th grade high school students from 7 different high schools (2 vocational, 3 Anatolian, 1 science and 1 social study high schools) located in Muratpaşa, Döşemealtı and Konyaaltı districts in Antalya. In these high schools, 1070 students were reached and asked to complete research questionnaires. Out of all participants, 677 students who had checked at least one item on the risk table were selected to form the final study population. The research data has been collected with "Academic Resilience Survey", "Perceived Social Support Survey" and "Self-efficacy Survey". Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis and Independent Sample t Test were used to analyse the collected data. Results pointed out that the adolescences' academic resilience was predicted significantly by academic self-efficacy, social self-efficacy, gender and perceived social support. Those four independent variables together explained 34% of the academic resilience of high school students. Finally, the study showed that adolescences' academic resilience varied significantly with gender and boys were more resilient compared to girls.
