Abstract (EN)
In this research, the relationship between agency and resilience in adolescents was examined. The relationship between the factors for the sub-dimensions of resilience such as 'family support, peer support and school support' and the factors for the sub-dimensions of active behaviour such as 'self-esteem, life purpose, internal locus of control and self-efficacy' is also discussed in this study. Furthermore, the connections between the agency as well as psychological resilience levels with adolescents and gender, school success, family economic level, number of siblings, parent education and class level were dwelled upon. Of the research phase, participants comprise 1061 students studying in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades in six different Anatolian high schools in Keçiören, Yenimahalle and Çankaya districts inside Ankara. The purposive sampling technique determined participants. To collect data related to variables, the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher, and the "Multi-Agent Personality Scale Short Form" developed by Cote (1997) and adapted by Atak (2010) into Turkish culture, and to determine the psychological resilience of adolescents, Bulut's "Adolescent Psychological Resilience Scale" (2013) have been included in this study. Also, the Independent Samples t-Test, the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient (PPMCC), One-Way ANOVA test, post hoc analysis, and tests, Tamhane T2, Tukey and Scheffe test were used this scientific study. The research result concluded that there is a positive, intermediate level, and correlative relationship between agency and resilience of adolescents. In other words, the conclusion shows that as the level of agency increases, the level of resilience also increases. Moreover, it was concluded that the total agency scores differed significantly according to the number of siblings and family economic status. In this light, individuals with one sibling have higher levels of agency than those with two, three, and four siblings, and also, individuals with higher family economic status had higher levels of the agency. It was concluded that there is a significant difference in terms of the total score of psychological resilience when the factors of grade-level, average academic level, the school success level, the sibling numbers and the family economic status are considered. Accordingly, it was observed that in terms of grade level factor, the differentiation was between the 9th and 10th grades and between the 9th and 11th grades, and it was concluded that these two differentiations resulted in favour of the 9th grades. According to the academic average, the differentiation was in sight among all groups, and it indicated that when the individuals' psychological resilience increased, their academic success also increased. According to the school success level, the differentiation is between the individuals with medium success and with high school success, and this resulted in favour of the individuals with high school success. Then, according to the sibling numbers, the differentiation is between individuals with no siblings and individuals with 3, 4 or more siblings, individuals with one sibling and individuals with 3 siblings, and these differentiations are in favour of individuals who have no sibling and one sibling, in turn. Lastly, according to the family economic status, the differentiation is between individuals with low economic status and individuals with separately medium and high economic status. This differentiation resulted in favour of individuals with both medium and high economic status compered to individuals with low economic status.
