Abstract (EN)
This study aims to determine the extent to which well-being in adolescents is predicted by emotional autonomy. The study included 748 high school students of whom 381 (%50. 9) were female and 367 (%49. 1) were male who were enrolled in 6 different high schools based in the Anamur district of Mersin. Data regarding levels of well-being and emotional autonomy in the adolescents studied were collected using "EPOCH (Five-Dimensional Well-Being Model in Adolescents)" and "Emotional Autonomy Scale" respectively. Personal data, on the other hand, were gathered using the "Personal Information Form" put together by the researcher. To analyze the data, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient and multivariate regression analysis were utilized. As a result of the research analysis, a significant positive correlation was found between well-being and emotional autonomy levels of the participants. Dimensions of well-being such as loyalty, commitment, optimism, relationalism and happiness were all found to positively correlate with 2 dimensions of emotional autonomy: non-idealization of parents and independence. It was observed that the individualizationdimension of emotional autonomy had a positive correlation with the stability, optimism and relationalism dimensions, but not with the commitment dimension of well-being. It was seen that the dimensions of non-idealization of parentsand independence pertaining to emotional autonomy predicted well-being of the participants, but the dimension of individualization did not predict the well-being of the participants. Emotional autonomy dimensions such as non-idealization, independence and individualizationwere found to significantly predict the commitment dimension of well-being. It was concluded that non-idealization and independence dimensions of emotional autonomy significantly predicted stability, optimism, relationalism and happiness dimensions, but the individualization dimension did not predict any dimension of well-being.
