Abstract (EN)
Objective: The aim of this study is to develop a nursing intervention model specific to problematic internet use (PIU) in adolescents and to test it using the technical action research method. Method: This study consists of two phases. In the first phase, a nursing intervention model specific to problematic internet use (PIU) in adolescents was developed in line with the integrative approach. The model was created by following the steps of the integrative approach, which include (i) checking assumptions, (ii) exploring the phenomenon through multiple sources, (iii) theorizing, and (iv) validating, reporting, and sharing. In the second phase, a nursing care program based on the developed draft model was designed and tested using the technical action research method. This phase was carried out with 10 adolescents at the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Outpatient Clinic of Akdeniz University Hospital between July 2024 and December 2024. Results: In this study, the Care Bag Model for Healthy Internet Use in Adolescents was developed. The main concepts of the model are modifiable factors, internet use patterns, care interventions, and core care components. The Nursing Care Program based on the Care Bag Model for Healthy Internet Use in Adolescents was found to be effective in reducing adolescents' levels of problematic internet use (PIU) and in increasing their levels of self-regulation, supportive family relationships, and active coping strategies. Adolescents shared their opinions and experiences regarding the nursing care program, and as a result of data analysis, five main themes were identified. These themes are modifiable factors, internet use patterns, core care components and the nursing care program. Conclusion: The Care Bag Model for Healthy Internet Use in Adolescents is considered to be able to guide nurses while providing care to adolescents with risky or problematic internet use. In future studies, it is recommended that the model be tested within the scope of preventive mental health practices in schools or primary healthcare institutions Keywords: adolescents, healthy internet use, model, nursing
