Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to examine the relationships between hopelessness, religious coping and life satisfaction levels of adolescents. The sample of the study consists of 920 students, 569 (61.8%) girls and 351 (38.2%) boys, attending 15 secondary schools in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts. Religious Coping Scale, Beck Hopelessness Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools in the study. The scales were applied to the students online through Whatsapp application groups after obtaining permission from the relevant secondary school principals in the second semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. In the research, causal comparison and correlational methods, which are relational research methods, were used as models. The data of the research were first entered into Microsoft Excel program, then transferred to SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 21 package programs and analyzed by these programs. According to the results obtained from the research; There was no significant difference between male and female adolescents for negative religious coping. However, positive religious coping levels of female adolescents are significantly higher than male students. There is no difference between adolescents in terms of religious coping according to grade level. Adolescents' negative religious coping levels do not differ according to their perceived school success. However, adolescents with high school achievement are more likely to engage in positive religious coping behaviors than adolescents with poor school achievement. Adolescents' negative religious coping levels do not differ according to the educational level of their parents. However, adolescents whose mothers are primary school graduates engage in more positive religious coping behaviors than adolescents whose mothers have a bachelor's degree or higher. Adolescents whose fathers are primary or secondary school graduates use more positive religious coping than adolescents whose fathers have a bachelor's degree or higher. Adolescents' negative coping levels do not differ according to their parents' relationship status. However, adolescents whose parents are together use more positive religious coping than adolescents whose parents are divorced. Adolescents who are religious use both negative and positive religious coping more than non-religious adolescents. According to the results of the correlation analysis examining the relationships between religious coping, life satisfaction and hopelessness; There is a moderately significant positive relationship between negative religious coping and positive religious coping, an insignificant low positive relationship between negative religious coping and hopelessness, and an insignificant low negative relationship between negative religious coping and life satisfaction. There is a moderately significant negative relationship between positive religious coping and hopelessness, and a moderately significant positive relationship between positive religious coping and life satisfaction. There is a moderately significant negative relationship between hopelessness and life satisfaction. According to the results of the regression analysis on religious coping, life satisfaction and hopelessness, high levels of religious coping are associated with high levels of life satisfaction. On the other hand, it was determined that high level of hopelessness was associated with low level of life satisfaction. Suggestions were made in line with the findings obtained from the research.
