Abstract (EN)
The research aims to investigate the relationship between adolescents 'attitudes towards social media and their level of mindfulness, and whether adolescents' attitudes towards social media and their level of conscious awareness differ according to some variables. The study group of the research consists of 9, 10, 11, 12th grade 555 students studying in Istanbul in the 2020-2021 academic year. Personal Information Form, Social Media Attitude Scale, The Comprehensive Inventory of Mindfulness Experiences–Adolescents were used in the study. SPSS 22.0 package program was used for analysis. The study is a "relational screening" study. Skewness and Kurtosis values were examined and Levene homogeneity test values were examined to test the homogeneity of the data. Because of the normal distribution of the data, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Analysis, ANOVA, Welch Test and Post Hoc tests were applied. There was a positive significant relationship among social media attitude of the students and the sub-dimensions of the inventory of mindfulness experiences, awareness of internal experience, awareness of external experience, relativity of thoughts, insightful understanding; a negative significant relationship between acting with awareness and openness to experience. Social media attitudes of the students differed significantly according to gender, time spent on social media, and whether or not they are a social media member. The sub-dimensions of the students' inventory of mindfulness experiences, acting with awareness, accepting and nonjugdemental orientation, decentering and nonreactivity, openness to experience differ significantly according to the time spent on social media.
