Ergonomik tüketici ürün tasarımı: İlkeleri, değerlendirme ve uygulama

Product ergonomics is not only the essential factor for consumers who are looking for the best product to fulfill their requirements, but also necessary for producers which effects their sales figures and profits. The aim of this thesis is to identify and group the criteria that affect directly and indirectly to the product ergonomics and according to this, to propose Ergonomic Consumer Product Design Principles. Ergonomic Consumer Product Design Principles divided into two headlines which are primary and secondary principles. Primary and secondary principles are the criteria that affect the product ergonomics directly and indirectly, respectively. Then, the New Product Development Process model was developed with considering Ergonomic Consumer Product Design Principles, which includes ten steps and five sub-steps. After modeling the New Product Development Process, eleven pruning shears were selected, and the procedure is applied to investigate them. Throughout this thesis, the human needs of the pruning shears were identified and matched to the primary and secondary criteria. Pressure tests, case study analysis, cutting tests and some other data collecting methods were applied to the pruning shears to investigate ergonomic conditions of the products. According to the results, the ergonomic concept design ideas have been suggested. The results of the statistical analysis show that consumers' behavior can be affected by the product usage experience. The significant differences were found between gender and hand sizes of the participants in pruning shear usage. In pressure tests, unpredictable ergonomic problems were discovered that affects product ergonomics. Moderate and strong correlations were found in the human needs, which proves that Ergonomic Consumer Product Design Principles can be affected by each other. The main contribution of this thesis is implementing the Ergonomic Consumer Product Design Principles into the pruning shears design process successfully.
