Socio-cultural education in early childhood period: Famous Turkish elders

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to contribute to identity development of individuals at early childhood period by introducing elders who take place important role at their culture. With this aim in mind, activities related with eight Turk elders were implemented for the purpose of remembering them by the children.The implementation of the research study was done at 2009 ? 2010 school year with 17 children who were 6 years old at that time. The subject group was composed of children from a preschool class of a state school at Yenimahalle town at Ankara province.With the action research pattern into the study, data were collected by observation, interviews and document analysis. These data, then, analyzed by discourse analysis, qualitative content analysis and interpretive analysis techniques.As a result of analysis of the data; it was found that the children remembered the Turk elders and what that elders do at past, recognized the past.
