Investigation of the prosocial behavior content of some cartoon films prepared for early childhood

In this research, it is aimed to examine the prosocial behavior content of some domestic and foreign cartoons prepared for early childhood. The research was carried out with the document analysis method of the qualitative research methodology. The study groups of the research consisted of the first 20 episodes of the cartoons "Niloya", "Canım Kardeşim", "Maya The Bee", and the first 10 episodes of the "Heidi" cartoons, a total of 70 cartoons. As a data collection tool, the "Prosocial Behavior Checklist" created by the researcher by review the relevant literature was used. Prosocial Behavior Checklist "Starting and Maintaining Communication", "Empathy", "Helping", "Sharing", "Cooperating", "Altruism" and "Supporting" it consists of seven dimensions. The data of the research were analyzed using content analysis method. As a result of the research, when the prosocial distribution is examined according to age groups in cartoons, it has been determined that prosocial behaviors are given more place in cartoons prepared for 3-5 year old children. When the distribution of prosocial behaviors in cartoons according to their domestic and foreign production status is examined, it seen that prosocial behaviors are given more place in foreign production cartoons. It has been determined that the most common prosocial behavior in domestic and foreign cartoons is '' "Starting and Maintaining Communication", and the least common prosocial behavior is ''Cooperating''. Similarly, in the cartoons prepared for 3-5 year olds and 6-8 year olds, it was determined that the most used prosocial behavior dimension was "Starting and Maintaining Communication", and least included prosocial prosocial behavior was ''Cooperating''.
