The effect of early maladaptive schemas and schema modes on types of aggression

It is very important to examine the factors that cause violence in the prevention of violence cases. The aim of this study is to examine the tendency to aggression in the context of Early Maladaptive Schemas and Schema Modes, which are the concepts of Schema Therapy, which is one of the new generation therapies. The research was carried out with 340 participants aged 18 and over, and the data were collected online. Young Schema Scale Short Form, Schema Mode Inventory, Buss Perry Aggression Scale and Demographic Information Form were used. The datas were analyzed with SPSS 20 program. One-way multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), Pearson Correlation Analysis and Stepwise Regression Analysis were applied to the examine relationship between the variables of the study. The analysis of the data was carried out at the 95% confidence level. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that early maladaptive schemas and schema modes predict aggression and different schemas and schema modes are effective in different types of aggression. However, a relationship was found between gender, age and education level and research variables. Research data were evaluated in the light of current studies in the literature and conceptual perspective, and suggestions for future research were presented.
