Abstract (EN)
In this study, religious viola works of Ernest Bloch who was one of the most important musicians of 20th century as a Swiss-American composer, are going to be analyzed. The first part of study includes Jewish music history. Second part of the study consists the life of E. Bloch and his works. Third part of the study includes composer's works that he created by protecting his Jewish identity, adding his musical creativity to the melodies of the society and presented them to the taste of universal aesthetics. Understanding and comprehending the origins of the works, understanding musical identity and musical language of the composer, comprehending the source of religious themes which were used in the Jewish themed viola works of the composer, form the basic purpose of this study. This thesis is also aimed that this study will be a guide for musicians and educators.
