Özet (EN)

The study area covers about 40 kilometers square area in boundaries of Üzümlü region, where is about 30 kilometers far from east of Erzincan province. In this study; the engineering properties of volcanic rocks obtained from four different stone quarries in Üzümlü (Erzincan) region were investigated. In the scopes of laboratory studies, the experiments like bulk and the aggregate tests (bulk and dense unit weight, specific mass, water absorption, Los Angeles test for resistance to wear, freezing resistance and uniaxial compressive strength) were performed on the 5 selected volcanic specimens according to the standards (TS, BS, ASTM) and in the second stage, grading of concrete tests (grading of the concrete aggregates, concrete preparation, slump test, specific density of concrete, uniaxial compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, splitting tensile strength, abrasion resistance and capillarity) were made on the concrete samples with volcanic aggregates. Water/cement ratio is selected as main variable providing homogeneous mixing and the highest strength to concrete samples produced from a fixed granulometry. Cylindrical concrete samples were produced with different water/cement ratios. The concrete samples were cured for 7 and 28 days in water to obtain its physical and mechanical properties. Aggregates and concrete tests that are harmonical with the standards show that especially Yassıtepe-Doğu (YTD) sample that is one of the volcanic rock from Üzümlü region can be used as concrete aggregate. It is seen that the concrete produced can reach C25/30 and upper classes. In addition, it is understood that it can be used all the areas, especially, structural concrete.
